North East Entrance to Yellowstone Park. “Approaching the Land of the Shining Mountains taken 27 miles from Red Lodge on Hi-way 12; On the plateau in early spring, just after the Beartooth hi-way has been opened for travel. Many of these snow fields remain throughout the summer and it is a common sight to see tourists snowballing in July and August.
